Curriculum is central to learning and teaching; what is taught and assessed in our schools has a considerable impact on individual student learning, and on education performance across our system.

The ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Archdiocese Catholic Schools (³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ) F–10 Curriculum Survey is a key component of the Flourishing Learners Academic Pillar. Administered in Term 4, 2022, the survey was designed to identify what aspects of curriculum implementation and resourcing are working well in our schools.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ recently received the full survey data report and an executive summary of the key findings.

Survey findings reveal that:

  • Over 80% of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ teachers want more support to help them to implement the curriculum including access to:
    • Quality assessment tasks and marking rubrics/criteria
    • Samples of quality lessons or learning activities for topics
    • Annotated samples of student work at each level
    • Recommended lists of quality programs and/or resources
    • Comprehensive quality units of work including instructional materials
    • Recommended lists of quality texts and/or textbooks
  • The majority of teachers say that they or their colleagues create their own resources, rather than sourcing these from elsewhere.

The findings will be integrated into the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ 2030 Flourishing Learners strategic program, including the development of comprehensive curriculum resources for ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ schools commencing with Mathematics.

³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ would like to thank all of the schools who contributed via the survey or the focus group sessions.
