Role Description/Criteria

St Monica's College is a Catholic co-educational College (Years 7 - 12) serving the northern suburbs of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and is governed under the authority of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Archdiocese Catholic Schools Limited (³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ).

Our College is located on two metropolitan campuses in Epping and a rural campus, Ostia, in Strath Creek for spiritual retreat.Ìý Epping campuses are walking distance from each other and the Epping train station. The College has recently acquired an additional facility called the MacKillop Centre and a new Year 8 Campus in Reservoir.

A vacancy exists for a qualified Educational Support Learning Officer to join our large Learning Diversity Faculty which works with students who have diverse needs and require additional support, individually and in group learning situations. ÌýExperience is Numeracy Support is an advantage. ÌýYou will join a team of 20 Learning Support Officers across both Epping campuses and Reservoir Campus.

This is a full-time ongoing position commencing Tuesday, 28 January 2025.

The College requires a candidate who possesses formal qualifications and has experience in this area of learning.

Duties include:

  1. Work as a part of a team ensuring the educational, pastoral and social needs of students with individual learning needs are met, primarily through in-class support of students
  2. Work collaboratively with teachers to identify and accommodate the individual needs of students with disabilities, such as providing extra time to complete assignments, using assistive technology, or adapting materials to meet specific learningÌý
  3. Where possible, be familiar with class content in order to support students more effectively
  4. Be familiar with the learning profiles of students funded under the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) and adjustments they may require
  5. Assist students in the classroom with strategies to help them manage their learning, such as note taking techniques, organisational skills, and time management strategies. Assist students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas, as directedÌýÌý
  6. Work with students to provide additional support with specific skills or concepts, such as reading comprehension, math problem-solving, or writing skills
  7. Assist staff as required in facilitating transition programs for our students with additional learning needs to St Monicas’s College and when moving to new year level each year
  8. In collaboration with Learning Support Officer Manager, create a timetable that priorities high levels of support for students with additional learning needs
  9. ÌýMaintain accurate records of in-class support provided to students, with particular attention to adjustments made
  10. Attend camps and excursions to support students when deemed necessary by the Learning Diversity staffÌý
  11. Assist with administrative duties such as making phone calls, preparing resources,Ìý photocopying, etc. as directedÌý
  12. Support the After School Homework program on a roster basis, supporting all students present
  13. Keep up to date with information on disabilities of students and how to best support them. Attend PL as requested
  14. Maintain the confidentiality and right to privacy of NCCD students by being discreet with information pertaining to their learning needs
  15. ÌýSupport students who may have an adaptive behaviour plan – i.e., personal care, daily living skills, etc.
  16. Attend Faculty meetings, General Staff meetings, College assemblies, Sports Days, and special celebration days of the College
  17. Complete other reasonable duties as requested by the Learning Support Officer Manager, Acutis Leader – Targeted Programs and Senior Teacher - Learning Diversity.

  • Successful applicant will be required to undergo a Working with Children Check and Police Check

Salary for this position is based on experience in accordance with the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement (CEMEA) as varied from time to time.
