Showcasing how varied STEM projects can be, the STEM Showcase Day at Scienceworks on Thursday 27 July 2017 was an opportunity for students from 18 primary schools in the Western Region of 吃瓜不打烊 to proudly show the STEM work that they had been doing in schools. The nature of the showcase meant students could walk around to other presentations and ask questions of their creators, allowing students to explain what their experiment was and how they had designed and executed it.

Ranging from creating a model of an ecofriendly house, to an art project based on the mechanisms of flight, to creating animal puppets that were controlled electronically, the projects gave students and staff alike a chance to get excited about new aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.

‘The students & staff have learnt a great deal & are genuinely excited about being able to present their STEM learning journey,’ said Kevin Cronin, eLearning Coach at Queen of Peace School in Altona Meadows.

We interviewed some of the students to hear their thoughts on the projects they had created and what they had learnt along the way.
