Earlier this week State Member for Ivanhoe, Anthony Carbines MP, visited , Rosanna, as work began on the school’s $3.5 million building project.

School Principal, Dane Malone explains, ‘The purpose of the project is not to increase our student population but rather enhance the opportunities for our current and future families.’

Funding was announced by the Victorian Government in 2014 as part of the 2015–16 to 2018–19 Capital Funding Program for Non-Government Schools, with $1.5 million allocated to the school from the government.

‘The facility will enhance our capacity to provide contemporary learning opportunities for our students,’ said Mr Malone.

The school has been working in conjunction with their Master Planning Group to finalise the masterplan in readiness for the new Learning Cluster Building. It is anticipated that building will be completed in September 2018.

Mr Malone said, ‘The flexible open spaces will deliver increased opportunities for student and teacher collaboration which will enrich the learning communities within our school’.

The Learning Cluster building will be a multi-level building comprising:

  • a basement carpark for staff
  • 10 learning areas (classrooms)
  • four studios for small group work
  • central gathering spaces on each level
  • flexible leaning spaces to cater for interaction and collaboration across classes.

‘The extra spaces created through the project will enable us to broaden our specialist offerings (STEM, art, instrumental music, speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc.)’, said Mr Malone.
