Term 3 begins
12 July 2021
Welcome to the beginning of Term 3. With a number of theme weeks and liturgical celebrations, it’s a great time for students, teachers and families in Catholic schools to bring together their faith identity as a love of learning.
Liturgical celebrations include the Solemnity of Australia’s first saint, St Mary of the Cross, on 8 August. The day coincides with the beginning of Family Week, an opportunity to acknowledge parents and carers as primary educators of their children during the bicentenary of Catholic education in Australia.
Science Week takes place in August with the school theme Food: Different by Design. It honours the United Nations International Year of Fruits and Vegetables and the International Year of Creative Economy for Sustainable Development.
Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds is the theme for this year’s Book Week. Organised by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) since 1945, Book Week is an annual event for schools to recognise Australian children’s authors and illustrators, as well as inspiring students to become the next generation of authors and illustrators.
