Fifty years of unity
29 April 2022
As part of their 50 years celebrations, students at St Leo the Great Primary School, Altona North, have created a striking, memorable and environmentally responsible piece of artwork.
This wall mural represents the school with its logo within a cross, the sun above and the green garden below. To complete the artwork, the student art committee asked the school community to collect plastic bottle tops. Art teacher Mrs Natale coordinated the project, beginning with painting the logo and organising students to sort the lids. Once it was ready, every student in the school glued at least one bottle top on the design, with the committee finishing the artwork during lunchtimes.
The mural took many hours to complete and is now displayed on an outside wall next to the office.
