Creative spark gets bigger
6 October 2023
The community at St Aloysius’ School, Queenscliff, is celebrating modifications to the school to expand opportunities for all students.
With the support of the ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ Archdiocese Catholic Schools (³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ) Supplementary Capital Fund, learning spaces were modified and new accessible spaces were created so that all students are included.
‘This refurbishment gives us a great opportunity to open up new learning spaces’, said Principal Miriam Leahy. ‘It’s a small project with a big impact. The new art space is important because it gives our students the opportunity to learn in all different kinds of ways, and their creative spark is just getting bigger and bigger. They get to do it now with much better facilities than they had previously.’
Together with Parish Priest, Fr Darien Sticklen, and members of the school community, the celebration acknowledged the role of parents in continually improving the school. ‘Our parents are really important partners in the learning that happens here and they are involved in every aspect of the education of the students here – whether it’s classroom helping, Parents and Friends or the School Advisory Council’, said Miriam, ‘and the ideas they contributed to the design of the new facilities helped to shape the great design we ended up with’.
