Performing arts students from 吃瓜不打烊 Archdiocese Catholic Schools (吃瓜不打烊) schools are showcasing their outstanding talents on stage at 吃瓜不打烊 Recital Centre as part of this year’s VCE Season of Excellence.

Held today and tomorrow, the Top Class Drama concerts feature performances from selected students based on results from their VCE performance examination in 2024. The end-of-year performance exam in Drama Unit 4 requires considerable time and effort to research, write, rehearse and refine.

Students who achieved an A or A+ on their performance were invited to audition to be part of the concert series and were then selected to perform based on their audition.

Alyssa Denni from Loyola College, Watsonia, is performing The Wannabe (Time Person of the Year). Selection in Top Class Drama caps off an impressive list of performance accolades for Alyssa, who also received the Loyola College 2024 VCE Academic Excellence Awards for Dance, Drama and Theatre Studies (for achieving the highest study score in the Year 12 cohort per subject), as well as a nomination for a Music Theatre Guild of Victoria Award in the ‘Supporting Performer in a Female Presenting Role’ category.

Liam Grima from Mazenod College, Mulgrave, will perform The Lorax by Dr Seuss. Felicity Kamevaar, Mazenod College’s Faculty Head of Dramatic Arts said, ‘Liam was a very dedicated student who put his heart and soul into this solo exam. From the start of [last] year, he made it very clear he was aspiring for Top Class so, when he received the email to say he had an audition, he was over the moon!’
