History:
St John the Baptist School, Ferntree Gully, was opened by the Presentation Sisters in 1936. They faithfully provided education for the young people in the Parish of St John the Baptist for 57 years. When the Presentation Sisters retired from the school in 1993, the first lay principal was appointed.
The school population increased rapidly over the years and peaked in 1960 with 861 students. Our enrolment is now approximately 230 students.
The school is an integral part of the parish and parental participation is strongly encouraged. Parents and teachers work in close partnership in preparing for sacramental celebrations.
