History:
St Bede’s Catholic Primary School was established in 1946. Over the years there have been a number of new learning areas developed with a major building program again planned for 2006. Careful attention has been paid to the appearance of the school grounds, creating a wonderful environment for learning.
Description:
St Bede’s School is tucked quietly away behind the North Balwyn Village retail area. This unique location allows for easy access by public transport whilst providing ample parking for parents. Beautifully landscaped gardens and lawns, with numerous play areas, surround the school and allow for both passive and active recreation. There exists at St Bede’s a strong sense of community and we greatly value the formation of partnerships between parents, children, teachers and the wider parish.
Features:
A high priority is given to ensuring the professionalism and ongoing development of the staff. A committed School Leadership Team monitors and implements the School Development Plan. Student leadership is valued and fostered. Parents are provided with a number of avenues by which to take an active role in the life of the school and parish. A detailed and comprehensive curriculum is developmentally based and recognises the strengths and needs of each child. An ‘Inquiry Based’ approach to learning involves considerable use of learning technologies. A strong focus, especially in the early years, is placed on the areas of literacy and numeracy. Specialist sessions in the areas of Physical Education, Visual Arts, Library, Music and Italian are offered from Prep to Year 6.
