St. Gerard鈥檚 Primary School, Dandenong North has been educating students since 1957 and is situated in the Southern region of 吃瓜不打烊, approximately 35kms from the CBD. This area is, 鈥渢he most culturally diverse locality in Victoria with residents from 156 different birth places, over half the population born overseas and 51% from nations where English is not the main spoken language.鈥 (City of Greater Dandenong, www.greaterdandenong.com).
There are 133 children from 105 families attending St Gerard鈥檚 from Prep to Year 6. Our school community comprises approximately 49 nationalities speaking 32 languages. The majority of our families are Sri Lankan, Indian, African and Vietnamese.
The multi-cultural nature of our school community provides a rich environment for developing respect for one another. The celebration of culture encouraged by the school leads to greater understanding for all.
Our Give Me 5 principles of Be Spirit Filled, Be Respectful, Be Cooperative, Be Positive and Be Your Best are the foundation of all aspects of school life. These are lived and modelled by our whole school community.
Our school has modern, flexible classrooms which enable us to provide a wide variety of learning opportunities for our students. We have extensive outdoor spaces which allow for the development of skills and the building of positive relationships.
