History:
St Catherine's Primary School was established in 1983 under the principalship of Sr Margaret McKenna, a member of the Sisters of Mercy, as the second school in the parish of St Clare's, Thomastown West.
From its inception, it was seen as a community school and this important feature has continued to be nurtured. Our current enrolment is 152 students with 60% of our families coming from a language background other that English.

St Catherine's Primary School is situated approximately 15 kilometres north of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ in Lalor West, on 1.3 hectares.
The grounds consist of large grassed and treed areas with small asphalt areas. St Catherine's has attractive landscaped gardens, 2 adventure playgrounds, basketball court and passive play areas.
The main administration building contains the principal's office, main office, staffroom, library and teacher resource centre. There are 5 large classrooms in the original building as well as the newly extended multi-purpose room. There are 2 relocatables as well. All classrooms are air-conditioned and have computers to enhance student's learning.

St Catherine's has made a commitment to literacy and numeracy learning, with a consistent approach to these two learning areas being implemented from P-6.
Religious Education is also highly valued and taught daily. St Catherine's has a dynamic LOTE - Italian program and places a strong importance on the Thinking Curriculum.
Children with learning difficulties are catered for under individual learning plans in our well-resourced programs.
