History:

Holy Trinity, the second school of St Jude’s Parish, Scoresby, was established in 1985 under the leadership of our current parish priest, Father Noel Mackay. Holy Trinity enjoys a unique integration program with St Mary’s College for Hearing Impaired Students. The two schools share the same campus and St Mary’s students are integrated into Holy Trinity classes. The St Mary’s students wear the same uniform as our students, play in the same playground and share activities and friendships with our students. This, encourages in all students, a sense of understanding and empathy as they learn to accept and respect differences. We take pride in our sense of community. We benefit from great parental support and involvement and in children living out our school motto, ‘Love One Another’.

Description:

The student population of Holy Trinity School is approximately 300, including 18 St Mary’s students. All classes are level grouped with the exception of Prep. The Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) forms the basis of our curriculum.

Students are assessed regularly through national standards testing, state-wide testing and school-based assessment to ensure that high standards are attained and that individual progress and improvements are monitored. Diagnostic tools are used to identify individual student difficulties, which are then addressed through the classroom program as well as through the special education staff and outside specialist agencies, where appropriate.

Currently students prepare for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist in Grade 3 and Confirmation is celebrated at Grade 6. The focus of the Religious Education program during sacramental celebrations is a whole-school priority – we are a community of faith, celebrating together.

Features:

The staff of 27 includes 12 class teachers, and specialist teachers in library, physical education, LOTE (Italian), Special Education, Reading Recovery and literacy. Literacy and numeracy have a particular emphasis at the school, with CLaSS (Children’s Literacy Success Strategy) and SINE (Success in Numeracy Education) ensuring that teaching strategies are scrutinised frequently to cater for the best match between learning activities and individual needs.

The 'Seasons' program is one of our pastoral programs offered to ensure optimum development of each individual child in our care. Grade 6 students also participate in a Special Buddies program with Preps – another greatly valued program in our school. We have established a weekly school-based Values program based on the values of the motto of 'Love one another' with a specific focus on our TORCH values - Tolerance, Optimism, Respect, Confidence, Honesty.
