History:
Simonds Catholic College began in 1996, and was born out of the amalgamation of Cathedral College East ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ and St Mary's Boys' Regional School West ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ. Our College draws on the traditions of these two excellent schools that share a common link with the Religious Order of the Christian Brothers. With a school population of 430 boys, the College provides an excellent Catholic education in the inner city area of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ for boys in years 7 to 12. The College boasts an excellent Science/Technology centre with resources for the teaching of Food, Systems, Information and Materials Technology. We have campuses in West ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ for Years 7 - 9 and Fitzroy North for Years 10 - 12.
We are honoured to be the first school named after Justin Simonds, Archbishop of ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ 1963-76, parish priest of West ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ for 21 years and the first Australian-born Archbishop.
Boys, staff and parents who are part of our College community have the honour and exciting challenge of developing a Christian community in which each person is valued, encouraged and supported to realise his potential.
