Description:
St Joseph's Flexible Learning Centre (FLC) is a specialist secondary school for young people aged 12–25 who have disengaged, or are at risk of disengaging, from mainstream education. At St Joseph's FLC, young people work on common ground with staff to achieve their personal and academic goals. Young people have access to a range of classroom and community-based learning opportunities, and are supported by both teachers and wellbeing workers in small class groups.
Young people who enrol at St Joseph's FLC have the opportunity to build essential literacy, numeracy and employment skills by participating in the Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) and a number of Vocational Education and Training (VET) certificates. They can also participate in hands-on learning opportunities through our range of cooking, music, outdoor education, woodwork, art and sports programs.
St Joseph's FLC runs classes from 9am–4pm, Monday to Friday. Programs are offered both on-site and on an outreach basis. A range of tailored options can be designed to suit young people who have a disability, mental health concern or other circumstances that might have previously posed a barrier to education. This includes working with young people on a one-to-one basis until they are able to participate more fully in the school community.
Please note that there are no costs associated with enrolment at St Joseph's FLC. Young people who enrol are eligible for a free student myki travel card and are provided all school materials as well as breakfast and lunch each day. St Joseph’s has campuses located in North ³Ô¹Ï²»´òìÈ, Geelong and Colac and is open to young people across Victoria.
